to hear from Brian Zimmerman, the new Executive Director of Cleveland Metroparks, as of March 15, 2010.  He is the 6th executive director on the Metroparks’ 93-year history. He was formerly with Milwaukee County Parks, Recreation and Culture, whose early county commissioners conceived of a park system that would form a "green belt" or series of scenic drives and parks encircling the county, now consisting of 15,000 acres.

 

He joins the Cleveland Metroparks, consisting of a 22,000 acre "emerald necklace" and zoo. He believes in a balance of passive recreation (walking), active recreation (golf, etc.), and conservancy, as well as the educational role, linking the next generation to the park system.
