DESCRIPTION:Have you\, a friend\, relative\, or co-worker flown out of the Akron-Canton Airport?Are you aware of this gem so close to the Cleveland area?Join us on Wednesday\, April 30th\, 11:30 AM-1:15 PM at Maggiano's Little Italy at Beachwood Place\, as Kristi Van Auken\, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Akron-Canton Airport\, lets us in on what's happening and future plans for the airport. The luncheon is sponsored by The Gathering Place\, a caring community that supports\, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer. Ms. Van Auken\, who joined the airport staff in 1996\, is responsible for all airport marketing\, communicatons\, and air service development initiatives. Under her leadership\, the airport has tripled airport passengers and nonstop routes. Additionally\, the airport's TV commercials featuring "punch dummy" won best show at the AkronAddys in 2005. In addition to her airport duties\, Ms. Van Auken is active in the community\, serving on the Board of Directors of the Akron AAA\, the Executive Marketing Forum\, the Cleveland+ Regional Marketing Alliance\, and the Walsh Unviersity Business Advisory Council. She co-chairs the stewardship and communication committees at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Akron and is a member of the Akron/Canton Chapter of the American Marketing Association\, Sales and Marketing Executives International of Akron\, and the Public Relations Society of America/Akron-Canton Chapter. She has served on the aviation committee of the National Business Travel Association\, and is a Leadership Akron graduate. Ms. Van Auken has been selected as a 2008 Distinguished Sales and Marketing Professional by Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland\; was selected as one of 30 for the Future\, recognizing today's young leaders in Northeastern Ohio\; and Crain's Cleveland Business included her in their 40 Under 40 list of upcoming executives in Northeast Ohio in 2005.
