On March 10\, 2003\, Peter J. Elliott was appointed as United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio after being unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. He is the 26th overall U.S. Marshal appointed in the district since the Northern District of Ohio was formed in 1855.

Marshal Elliott is responsible for the management\, administration\, and direction of operations throughout the district. He is responsible for leading and directing a staff in the forty county areas for the protection of the United States Courts\, criminal investigations\, execution of federal court orders and other law enforcement activities. His responsibilities include acting as the chief policy maker\, decision maker and final disciplinary official for the district. He is responsible for developing and implementing new operations of district programs\, policies and procedures pertaining to both operational and administrative matters.

Elliott&rsquo\;s law enforcement career has spanned over 25 years in the greater Cleveland area. He worked undercover narcotics for four years from 1983 until 1987. He then went on in 1987 to follow in his Father&rsquo\;s footsteps and became a Deputy United States Marshal\, where he worked until 1992. From 1992 until 2003\, Marshal Elliott was an ATF Agent where he investigated terrorism\, firearms and explosives cases.
