DESCRIPTION:An Evening in the Village ? Dessert and Coffee Informational Meeting\n\n\n\nVillage in the Heights and Gloria's Way are hosting a Dessert and Coffee Information Reception on Jan. 25th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Beachwood Community Center.\n\n\n\nVillage in the Heights is a member driven\, non-profit organization of neighbors living in the Eastern Cleveland suburbs.  Their purpose is to support one another in the aging population to enhance quality of life in their communities.  Live better longer\, at home!\n\n\n\nIssue:  Good News and Not-So-Good News.  Growing older is part of life. With 10\,000 Boomers turning 65 every day\, by 2030 over 20% of Americans will be 65 and over.\n\n\n\nSolution:  Aging In Place.  It makes sense for many of us to stay in our homes as we get older.\n\n	We like our homes - so comfortable and familiar - we've been in them for years.\n	We like where we live - we know the people\, places\, and resources in our communities.  \n\n In fact\, a recent AARP report found more than 90% of people over 65 strongly want to stay in their own homes and communities.  Many call this "Aging in Place.?  For the past fifteen years\, a concept emerged and has grown to become the leading solution for aging in place\, known as a Village. \n\n\n\nSo - What is a Village all about?\n\n\n	A Village is "virtual" - not property or a development - in fact\, many don't have offices.  \n	A Village is a grass-roots membership group of neighbors in their community\, where members and other volunteer help each other make life easier as they age in place.\n\n   Introducing Village in the Heights\n\nRemember growing up\, when everyone in your neighborhood looked out for each other?\n\nIt's not like that today\, and don't you miss it?  The people starting Village in the Heights are your neighbors and do look out for you! Belonging to Village in the Heights will help you live interdependently in your home and neighborhood.  Here are just a few examples of "neighbors helping neighbors": \n\n\n	Need a ride to the grocery or your doctor?                We will get you a ride.\n	Doorbell broken?                                                     A volunteer will fix your remote. \n	Remote control not working?                                          We'll get it working for you.\n	Feeling a little lonely?
